Organizational Development Grants

​

In 2017 we made an initial standard grant to Cape Ann Art Haven, which turned into a multi-year, significant funding commitment. We became active board members and lead the search for a full time Executive Director. Two years later, in another comprehensive effort, we funded initial operating expenses for the Salem Food Pantry's weekly mobile markets, joined the board and led the hiring of an Executive Director and Operations Manager. We also provided initial funding for the build-out of a much-needed food storage warehouse in Salem. Today Art Haven and the Salem Pantry are both thriving organizations providing much needed services to their communities.

 

Our experience with these two organizations was so impactful that in 2021 Organizational Development Grants became our primary method of giving. ​These grants, which range in size from $50,000-$500,000, are for the development of a new service, facility or other sustainable asset which enables the recipient to broaden their impact on the community. Most recently, we began funding Gloucester Music Works, with funding for initial renovations, first semester lessons and seed funding for the renovation of a larger space in 2026. We wholeheartedly support their mission to provide outstanding music education to all in our community. ​

Guitar Lesson Moment

Gloucester Music Works
beginning 2025

Mission: To provide outstanding music education that is accessible to all.

Project: Initial renovation of current facility, free first semester of lessons in cello, bass, guitar, piano, viola and voice for all students, seed funding and plans for the renovation of a larger space that will feature multiple lesson rooms, a dedicated drum studio, a band rehearsal space, and a recital/lounge area.

Mission: To create social change by taking actions against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression.

Project: To overcome financial hurdles to make it possible to start a rapid rehousing program for survivors of domestic violence. 

Science Courses

Gloucester Public Schools
2023-2025

Mission: For all our students to be successful, engaged, life-long learners. 

Project: Fund a coordinator position for 2 years at the Birdseye-Hammond Science Center at O'Maley Middle School. The coordinator will expand experiential learning to elementary students and strengthen teacher training.

Gloucester Housing Authority
2023- 2025

The Gloucester Housing Authority was formed in 1948 and is proud of its long history of promoting and providing adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free of discrimination.

Project: Improve accessibility in six public housing units.

Mission: To build an equitable and resilient community by creating opportunities for all on Cape Ann.​
 
Project: Construct and maintain a Commercial Incubator space at 206 Main Street to give participants a short-term basis to test and prove their business model.

Mission: to eradicate hunger in the Salem Community by providing residents in need with nutritious foods in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
